Web 2.0, Blogs, Social Networking, Business Networking, RSS, Web as Platform (Ajax), Read/Write Web, XML, CSS

Some marketers say that Internet business is dying. I don’t think so; it is changing but not dying. If you watch the trends, you'll see that new Internet era is moving fast to the Web 2.0 world. On my Home Business Art Web site you'll find quality content about Web 2.0 new discoveries.

Web 2.0

In the mid-1990s, the Web (1.0) began as a storage space of information and static content. By the turn of the century a huge amount of content was dynamic, and the Web became much more interactive allowing users to play and stop through audio and video content.

Web 2.0 makes Web-based applications act like local applications, but on a worldwide scale with important social implications. Web 2.0 was caused by bandwidth and power. Faster in than the T1 lines in the enterprise, cable and DSL hookups have extended high-speed connections to individuals and small businesses.

In addition, the entry level computer has become powerful enough to execute programming scripts in an HTML page without perceivable delays. Combined with refinements in Web programming (PHP, XML, CSS, Ajax), the Web has become a transparent extension of an individual's PC just as LANs (local area networks) extended the user's computing resources inside the enterprise in the 1980s and 1990s.

What makes Web 2.0 real is its new way to intend web applications. Today it’s time to make “web for ordinary people” real. And I think you can contribute it a lot having a creative mind and by facing the challenge. As the Web is changing face, I believe we live in a time when new opportunities for talented people are just around the corner. To know more read more...

Web 2.0 Advantages:
- Speed Development
- Open Up Access Options
- Simplify Maintenance
- Reduce Bandwidth Costs
- Improve User Experience

Social Networking

The conflict of social networking

I hope that new social networking trend will "Let the business space jump start your business today!" as many networkers say. Who knows? It can be wastes of time if you don’t know exactly what do you want from networking people and social networking sites...

Do you know any kind of strategy that is efficient in business and social networking? If my goal would be just making friends, then I know I can make thousands. But if I want to market something, the problem is that everyone has something to market and sell so, it just doesn't work.

I am a researcher and have joined over 20 social and business networking programs... I don't know yet where to stop and be more involved... All are offering the same infrastructure, some have different ways of keeping people there, but I need something very clear. Many are too general and offering everything: social, business, music, video, friendship, all kind of matches...!?

If you go to a business group, that guy who leads the group wants to teach you or sell you something. The problem is that I am already taught and also don't want to buy but to sell!

What do you think about social networking? Read more or post your opinion on my blog.

Blog Basics

A weblog or blog is a web-based publication of periodic articles (posts), usually presented in reverse chronological order. It is an online journal with one or many contributors. Besides straight text and hyperlinks, some blogs specialize in incorporating other forms of media such as images, video, or a particular theme. Many bloggers may use audioblogging to be able to phone in or otherwise post spoken entries on their blogs (podcasting). New words have been coined for many of these content-oriented blogs, such as “mobile blog", etc.

A blog is usually made up of the following components:
- Post Date - time the post was published
- Category - category the post is labeled with (can be one or more)
- Title - main title of the post
- Body - main content of the post
- Trackback - links back from other sites
- Comments - comments added by readers
- Permalink - the URL of the full, individual article
- Footer - usually at the bottom of the post, often showing post date/time, author, category, and stats such as number of comments or trackbacks.

What is RSS?

RSS stands for “Really Simple Syndication” or “Rich Site Summary”; syndicating means republishing an article that comes from another source such as a website.

An RSS is a means of publicizing updates about websites. It may or may not include a summary and photos of the latest posting. But those that provide summaries allow users to skim through the article so that they could decide later on if they want to access the website source.

The RSS feed usually contains the title of the update originating from the website. It is also usually the link to the website source.

Web as Platform (Ajax)

Ajax
(Asynchronous JavaScript and XML) is a cross-platform technology usable on many different operating systems, computer architectures, and Web browsers, used for creating interactive web applications and to increase the web page's interactivity, speed, functionality, and usability.

Ajax is based on open standards such as JavaScript and XML (Extensible Markup Language), together with open source implementations of other required technologies.

Asynchronous” means that Ajax web pages are more responsive by exchanging small amounts of data with the server behind the scenes, so that the entire web page doesn’t have to be reloaded each time the user requests a change.

“JavaScript” is the programming language in which Ajax function calls are made.

“XML” is an extensible language that allows its users to share data across the Internet and to define their own tags (keywords).

Democracy or the Read/Write Web (RWW)

The Web 2.0 is seen as a two-way medium, where people are both readers and writers. The main catalyst for this is social software, allowing communication and collaboration between two or more people.

Web 2.0 is characterized by democracy. We now have examples to prove that amateurs can surpass professionals, when they have the right kind of system to channel their efforts. Wikipedia may be the most famous, it's good enough and it's free, which means people actually read it.

Another place democracy seems to win is in deciding what counts as news and technology news sites. Few excellent news sites: Reddit, Digg, del.icio.us.

O n the Web 2.0 sites people can publish whatever they want, and the pool of writers is very, very large. However, the most impressive example of Web 2.0 democracy is not in the selection of ideas, but their production. Sometimes the stuff I read on people's sites is as good as or even better than the stuff I read in newspapers and magazines.

Just take a look at Reddit: the top links on this site are generally links to individuals’ sites rather than to news stories or magazine articles.

CSS

Developed by the W3C, CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) is an abbreviation for cross-site scripting and a new feature that gives both Web site developers and users more control over how pages are displayed.

The term cascading derives from the fact that multiple style sheets can be applied to the same Web page.

With CSS web designers can create style sheets that define how different elements, such as headers and links, appear. These style sheets can then be applied to any Web page.

Home Business Art Website is built by using CSS.
